A man-eating shark was caught with a net by two local fishermen. One of them, Hamid, said that 15 people helped him pull the predator ashore. The male initially assumed the female was pregnant because she had a very large belly. Hamid and his assistants cut open the shark, inside they found the head and hand of Vladimir Popov.

The day after the fatal incident, on June 9, Hurghada authorities closed the beaches. An investigation into the tragedy revealed that there were no safety nets in the water at Dream Beach, which is why the shark was able to swim so close to people. Today, all beaches in the resort are open again, except for this unfortunate one.
