On June 8, a tragedy happened in Hurghada: a shark attacked a Russian on Dream Beach. The young man was desperately calling for help when the sea predator grabbed his leg and dragged him to the bottom. They could not help Vladimir, but the girl who was swimming next to him managed to avoid death.

Popov was born in Arkhangelsk, but in recent years lived in Moscow. In Hurghada, Vladimir and his father bought an apartment in the British Resort residential complex. Sarah Mereshkova, a friend of the deceased, said that in a month the young man would be 24 years old.

“Vova was a good guy. It was only a month away from his birthday. Friends say he moved there with his father. As far as I know, he really liked living in Moscow, his whole life was here, ”said Sarah. According to her, Vladimir liked music and recorded songs.

He dated a girl for several years, but she was not with him at the time of the shark attack. “They write on social networks that he saved his girlfriend from a shark. But it wasn’t, his girlfriend wasn’t there. She is at home and everything is fine with her, “explained another friend of the deceased, Alena Morozova, in an interview with MSK1.ru.

Vladimír studied until his 3rd year as an IT specialist at the Department of Computer Systems, Networks and Information Security at VSiIB and then transferred to MIIT. Thanks to distance education, Popov was able to travel. The following winter, the student had to defend his diploma.

Sergey Mukhametov, an associate professor at the Department of Oceanology at the Faculty of Geography at Lomonosov Moscow State University, said the nucule attack was unobserved – and it is impossible to predict their occurrence in advance. “There is a common idea, for example, the movie “Jaws”, this terrible fin, but when the shark comes to the surface, it just looks around, but does not attack, it attacks from below and from the side,” Sergey said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
