Since the beginning of May, the left welterweight of the Rostov handball club has been undergoing oncology treatment. The athlete was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma – cancer of the lymphatic system. The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist and Rio de Janeiro 2016 gold medalist underwent two cycles of chemotherapy.

Vladlena talks openly about her treatment. Now she showed how she parted with her hair. Bobrovnikova published a video in which her husband shaved her head. The athlete has been married to Italian swimmer Federico since 2015. The man has Russian citizenship.

“Now I’m bald and free! Honestly, it was hard to decide on this move! It’s like jumping in the Sky Park from a height of 207 meters! After I said goodbye to handball, Fe and I returned home. I tell him, “Come today, I’m ready!” He understood everything and shaved my head with loving hands!” admitted Vladlena.

She admitted that she really misses her hair, but she is not going to despair. “I want to say: ‘You don’t understand, but I’m a strong girl and my positive will be enough to heal the whole planet!'” assured Bobrovnikova.

Bloggers supported the athlete. “I’m sick too. I thought I was going to cry when he shaved my head, but no, I was smiling too”, “Beautiful, you are beautiful in your new image”, “You are great! And my husband is great! Such amazing support! Everything will be fine,” they wrote on the website.
