You can’t afford this LEGO Ferrari Monza SP1 either

As a supercar enthusiast on a budget, you can throw yourself into model cars. At least your bank account won’t be charged, right? Unfortunately, that’s not the case with this life-size Ferrari Monza SP1, which is made almost entirely out of LEGO.

The curtain was pulled in front of a Ferrari Monza SP1 at the Danish amusement park Legoland. The exclusive Italian was built in full size and the stone layers took no less than 339 days to complete the project.

Ferrari Monza SP1

The Ferrari Monza SP1 is a single-seat supercar (you get an extra seat in the SP2) launched in 2018 as a highly exclusive sports car. Under the long hood is a large V12 with 800 hp. According to Ferrari, only 499 examples will be built. One of them went to Max Verstappen. Three years ago, the Formula 1 driver gave himself a Ferrari Monza SP1. price tag? 1.6 million euros.

Well, not for everyone. Anyone who thinks that the LEGO version of the supercar is cheaper is of course right. Nevertheless, it goes a little too far to describe the construction project as affordable. The steering wheel and wheels under the structure are from a real Ferrari. These wheels alone are worth several (tens of thousands) of euros.

More than 383,000 LEGO bricks

The rest of the car is made entirely of LEGO. A total of 383,610 bricks were used for the project. On the official LEGO website we see that a regular red brick costs 22 cents. A quick calculation using the calculator shows that bricks worth over 84,000 euros were used in the construction of this Ferrari Monza SP1.

Of course we can’t look in the wallet, but 84,000 euros for a LEGO project gone wrong is over budget for many. Fortunately, there are cheaper options. This set only costs 45 euros and for that you get not just one, but two super sports cars. However, the cars are a bit smaller. Anyway, for 0.05 percent of the money the LEGO Ferrari cost, there’s nothing to complain about.
