Rimac Nevera breaks 23 different records in one day

Today, electric family cars achieve sprint times that only the fastest hypercars could previously achieve. Take an electric hypercar and the ending is all lost. The Rimac Nevera managed to break no fewer than 23 records in one day.

Although you’ve probably heard of the Croatian Hypercar, let’s introduce ourselves. Rimac was founded in 2009 by electric vehicle enthusiast Mate Rimac. In 2011, he and his team of more than 1,300 employees presented the first version of what would later become Nevera. An insane, electric hypercar with 1,940 hp and 2,360 Nm of torque.

Street legal tires, but one One foot rollout

It is this car that broke 23 different records at a German test track at the end of April. Of course, all records had to be checked, so Dewesoft and Racelogic staff were present to collect the data. The Rimac Nevera was running Michelin Cup 2 R street legal tires and the track was not specially prepared for the record attempt.

However, in the sprints of the Rimac Nevera, measurements were taken with a so-called One foot rollout, as Tesla does, for example. It is a measurement method that is often used in drag racing. The timer only starts when the car has already moved a few centimetres. When starting, the front wheel blocks a laser that shines across the road. Only when the wheel rolls forward does the laser touch the sensor again and the time starts to run. The car moves for the first few centimetres, but the wheel still blocks the sensor.

23 records broken by the Rimac Nevera

Still, the Rimac Nevera put on an insane performance. One of the most important records broken is the 0 to 100 km sprint. Here, the electric hypercar needed just 1.81 seconds (1.82 according to RaceLogic). When sprinting from 0 to 200 km/h, the EV only managed 4.42 seconds. That’s faster than a Formula 1 car.

In addition, the braking distance of just 29 meters when braking hard at 100 kilometers per hour was impressive. The Rimac Nevera also accelerated from 0 to 400 km/h and came to a standstill in just 29.93 seconds. See below for all the incredible records the Nevera broke in a single day.
