Guess what this 30-year-old Skoda cost with 34 kilometers on the clock
Sometimes a piece of jewelry floats on the used market. Think of a Mazda MX-5 with only 9,000 kilometers of experience. Still, it can get even crazier. This is how this Skoda favorite appeared in Greece. Believe it or not, the meter only shows 34 kilometers.
Believe it because it really is. This Skoda Favorit was found in a garage in Athens. But how could a 1993 car only have driven 21 miles? Many drive more kilometers a day than this oldie did in his entire life.
Just one ride
The woman who bought the Skoda Favorit LX thirty years ago seems to have driven it home from the dealer, only to decide driving wasn’t her thing after all. This raises the necessary questions. For example, why didn’t Madame immediately add 34 kilometers to return it? It may be a Skoda favorite that costs less than 10,000 euros new, but spread over 34 kilometers that is quite a lot.
Unfortunately we don’t have that answer for you. Little is known about the history of the very fine Skoda. What is certain is that the barn find was made at the end of 2022, after which the car was auctioned off.
Driver accepts the Skoda Favorit LX
The hammer sounded after the surcharge of 24,000 euros. That’s less than the aforementioned 1990 Mazda MX-5, while the Japanese has more than 260 times as many kilometers on the clock. Driver Jiří Mičánek Junior is the lucky one and was allowed to take the Skoda Favorit home with him.
For Mičánek, it was about more than just the kilometers. It couldn’t have been due to the 54 hp from the 1.3-liter petrol block either. No, Mičánek has a history with the favourite. “My parents used to have a Skoda Favorit as an everyday car and my father used the Skodas in his racing school in the early 1990s,” says the driver. “When I saw it, I knew immediately that I wanted to make this piece of history my own.” Mičánek has now added three kilometers. He wants to leave it at that for now.
