Would you rather be lazy than tired? Then the new Peugeot 2008 is not for you
Hey, we don’t say that… That’s what Peugeot says. Because according to the French brand, the compact crossover based on the 208 is primarily intended for “active families”. If you want to order a Peugeot 2008, you must first show the seller your pedometer.
craziness. This is how car manufacturers always describe their target group. Even the most geriatric models are rumored to be aimed at young, hip, active adventurers with a passion for skydiving and rooftop walks.
Peugeot 2008 gets a striking facelift
And by that we certainly don’t mean the Peugeot 2008, which has been blowing through the Dutch fleet like a fresh design wind for four years. It didn’t need a facelift as far as we’re concerned, but ahead… let’s see what Peugeot made of it.
What is striking is that the three vertical light strips in the headlight units have disappeared. They used to blend so nicely into the “teeth” underneath. Now the three LED strips under the headlights are not straight, but turned slightly inwards.
In addition, Peugeot made the filling of the front light units much more than thirteen out of a dozen. The 2008 grille has grown slightly, now with a couple of horizontal “ribs” next to it.
No more Peugeot logo on the back
Anything else? Yes. The rear lights have lost their “claws”. The three vertical LED strips per unit have been deleted and replaced with six horizontal strips left and right. You will no longer find the Peugeot logo on the back. The brand name is now written out.
As befits a facelift, new alloy wheels are available, as well as additional body colors. Blanc Okenite and Gris Selenium (see photos) in this case.
Always a 10-inch touchscreen as standard
The interior seems to have changed less. All versions of the Peugeot 2008 now have a 10-inch touchscreen. Previously, the first two trim levels had a 7-inch version. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
Electric Peugeot 2008 with more range
We already know the updates to the Peugeot e-2008’s electric powertrain. The electric motor increases from 136 hp to 156 hp and the battery capacity is increased from 50 to 54 kWh. The latter increases the range from 345 to 406 kilometers to a maximum.
Of course, there will also be petrol versions on the market again. These are the PureTech 100 (1.2 with 100 hp and manual transmission), PureTech 130 (1.2 with 130 hp and automatic transmission) and BlueHDi 130 (1.5 diesel with 130 hp and automatic transmission).
Early 2024 introduction of mild hybrid
Another engine will be added at the beginning of 2024: the 48V hybrid. This mild hybrid has a 136 hp petrol engine and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It would be 15 percent more fuel efficient than the PureTech 130.
