This horror creation was a Mercedes G-Class! And it’s for sale…
If you kicked a Lexus SC 430’s ass and then melted it in front of the fireplace, you’d get this…err…creation. What is it? At first we had no idea. It turns out to be a Mercedes G-Class. One you can buy!
You have to have some money in your savings account for this monster, because the colossus is not cheap. You can get it from English DK Engineering for just under 200,000 euros.
Based on a Mercedes G-Class
But what exactly is this convertible off-roader? Because it certainly does not come from the manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, even if it is based on a G-Class. He is – how could it be otherwise – French.
Fans undoubtedly know Heuliez. The coachbuilder existed from 1920 to 2013 when the company went bankrupt. Heuliez built cars for others (Peugeot 206 CC, Opel Tigra TwinTop, various Citroën Break models) and developed concept cars.
Some examples are the Citroën XM Palace, the Renault Fuego Cabriolet and the Peugeot 607 Paladine, which later served as a limousine for the French President. Heuliez also produced small series such as the Citroën M35 and the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16.
Mercedes-Benz SLK on high legs
Heuliez also occasionally revealed his own fantasies, such as this pull-up coupé-cabriolet shown at the 1996 Paris Motor Show, a few months after the Mercedes-Benz SLK was unveiled to the public in Turin.
The Heuliez Intruder – as the monstrous device is called – stands on the chassis of a Mercedes G 320. It therefore has a 3.2-liter straight-six on board, which is coupled with a four-speed automatic and all-wheel drive (with limited-slip differentials).
The roof of the Intruder was borrowed from Heuliez’s Mercedes SLK and can be opened or closed in 30 seconds. Later, the French company was responsible for developing the 206 CC roof for Peugeot.
Completely restored for 280,000 euros
Heuliez only built one example of the Intruder, which was shown to the public first in silver and later in white and red. The car has now regained its original color.
Interestingly, the concept car was completely restored not so long ago (cost: 280,000 euros). Now there are 1700 kilometers on the counter. There could be more if you have the courage to buy and use the Heuliez.
