These are the boldest Chinese copies of the Shanghai Motor Show

The Chinese auto industry has matured, we can say that after visiting the Shanghai Motor Show. But in the country they did not forget to copy Western products. Here are the boldest examples of Chinese copying.

Chinese car brands are famous and notorious for their shameless use of existing designs. Who can forget the Landwind X7, a simple Ctrl C + Crtl V of the Range Rover Evoque but many times cheaper.

Chinese copies are not always penalized

Jaguar Land Rover sued in China, but was (fortunately later) initially unsuccessful. In China, you could even buy logos that could turn a Landwind into a Range Rover. This is not possible in these examples.

The boldest Chinese copies of the Shanghai Motor Show

1. Wey Gaoshan—Toyota Alphard

Hardly anyone wants an MPV anymore, but they are still extremely popular in Asia, especially the larger and more luxurious ones like the Toyota Vellfire and Alphard. There were ten Chinese examples at the Shanghai Motor Show, but we highlight the Wey Goashan.

2. BAIC BJ80 – Mercedes-Benz G Class

Put another grille on this BAIC BJ80 and you have a good impression of a Mercedes G class. Most people won’t even notice the difference. From the raised bonnet to the rain gutters around the roof, everything was copied.

3. Jetour Traveler – Ford Bronco Sport

Looking at the individual design features of this Jetour Traveler, they all differ from those of the Ford Bronco Sport. Nevertheless, the Chinese off-roader is very similar to its American counterpart.

4. Jump Motor T03 – Smart ForFour

We’ll give that a leap of faith, although we think the designers of this Leap Motor T03 actually had a photo of the Smart ForFour hanging by their desk.

5. Ora Ballet Cat – Volkswagen Beetle/Beetle

The world’s sexiest car is clearly inspired by the Volkswagen Beetle and Beetle. The VW Group has not yet taken any legal action, but says it is considering doing so.

6. BAIC BJ40 – Jeep Wrangler

Hello, here we are again! Previously in the list with its G-Class clone, BAIC now gets a second entry with the BJ40, a Jeep Wrangler with rectangular headlights and a lower (and chromed) grille.
