Then you can trade in your MX-5 for the MG Cyberster
You’ve probably seen the MG Cyberster, the Cabriolet, a few times. For example, we previously showed images from a database of the Ministry of Transport and Information Technology in China. More is now known about the electric roadster and we even know when to swap your MX-5 for the MG.
Although you can of course swap your MX-5 for the electric roadster, they are two completely different cars. After all, the Mazda has a petrol engine. So whether anyone will really trade their Japanese for the Chinese EV is the question.
Trade the Mazda MX-5 for the MG Cyberster
The fact is that the MG Cyberster is ahead of its time than the MX-5. In fact, it is one of the first electric convertibles. Although the car can now only be seen at the Shanghai Motor Show, the Dutch importer states that the model will come to the Netherlands in the summer of 2024.
While the MG Cyberster’s appearance can be seen, the specs are yet to be determined. However, the same document that found the previously leaked photos also includes specifications. In any case, there will be an all-wheel drive version with an electric motor on the front axle that delivers 101 hp continuous and 201 hp peak power. An electric motor with 215 hp continuous and 335 hp peak power works on the rear wheels. The top speed is 200 kilometers per hour and the car weighs at least 1,885 kilograms.
The MG Cyberster has the design of a real roadster but is slightly larger than the Mazda MX-5. The electric car is 4.5 meters long, 1.9 meters wide and 1.3 meters high. The wheelbase is 2.7 meters.
More details to come
It’s still unclear what the MG Cyberster will ultimately cost and what the exact specifications are for the models that will be sold in the Netherlands.
