Smart lifts the curtain on its first coupe: the Smart #3
One of the largest auto shows in the world takes place in Shanghai. Many manufacturers present new models there. So did Smart, who drew the curtain on the Smart #3, the brand’s first coupe. A high, five-door coupé, then.
Smart recently gave us one sneak preview of the Smart #3, but this is the first time we’re seeing it in all its glory. Chinese car giant Geely is now meddling in Smart’s affairs, although Smart remains true to its original pioneering vision of realizing the best solutions for the urban mobility of the future.
The new Smart #3
We see the same face as that of the Smart #1 returning to the Smart #3. That means a front and rear LED strip, what Smart describes as a shark nose, and a wide, A-shaped grille. It’s essentially a coupé variant of the Smart #1.
With its sloping roof line, the Smart #3 looks sportier overall. The sportiness is also reflected in the interior. The Smart #1’s wide grilles and sleek color schemes give way to more contrasting colors and rounded grilles, not coincidentally reminiscent of Mercedes ones.
In addition, we see a panoramic glass roof in the interior photo, but also sports seats and a high center console that flows smoothly into the dashboard, although this combination seems to impede the sense of space in the Smart #3. The otherwise relatively large Smart is equipped with an audio system with thirteen speakers from Beats.
Available from early 2024
The Smart #3 will be launched early next year. Buyers can choose from a range of new colors. Among other things, a lively one Photon Orange Metallic And Electric Blue Matte will be available on the new ‘sporty coupé’, as Smart calls the number 3.
