BYD steps on the gas and shows two interesting electric cars
After the Atto 3, Han and Tang, BYD (Build Your Dreams) has now presented two more interesting electric cars for the Netherlands: the Dolphin and the Seal. The company is already successful worldwide. Can he also conquer the Netherlands with these two models?
In any case, the manufacturer is stepping on the gas in this country. Although “gas”, only electric vehicles are supplied in our country. After this launch, the counter is on five BYD models in the Netherlands.
The BYD seal
You may already be familiar with the BYD seal, after all the electric car is already being offered in China. The car is a direct competitor for the Tesla Model 3. The sedan is 4.8 meters long, 1.9 meters wide and almost 1.5 meters high. With a wheelbase of almost 3 meters, the wheels are far at the corners of the car.
In the Netherlands, the electric car is only available with an 82 kWh battery pack. This will get you 580 or 520 kilometers away. The range depends on which version you choose. There is a rear-wheel drive with 313 hp and an all-wheel drive with 530 hp to order. For the zero to one hundred sprint, the entry-level model needs 5.9 seconds, the more expensive version 3.8 seconds. More importantly, both versions can fast charge up to 150kW. While the BYD Seal’s fast charging isn’t extremely fast, it’s not slow compared to the competition either.
The BYD Dolphin
Although a “Dolphin” is slightly faster than a “Seal” in the animal kingdom, BYD is different. The electric car has a powertrain consisting of an electric motor that produces 204 hp. The Volkswagen ID.3 competitor sprints from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 7 seconds.
The BYD Dolphin is not very good at fast charging, which is only possible with 88 kW. The energy is stored in a 60 kWh battery pack that gives you a range of 427 kilometers.
As with the BYD Seal, the wheelbase is large: 2.7 meters. After all, the car is 4.29 meters long, 1.77 meters wide and 1.57 meters high. The Dolphin is already driving around in China.
Both electric cars in the showroom this year
Both the BYD Dolphin and the Seal will be in Louwman in Q3 2023. It is still unclear what the electric cars will cost in the Netherlands.
