Police check bus again: This is how much money the bus collects per day

Police check bus again: This is how much money the bus collects per day

The police seized their tour bus. From the bus, a team monitors whether road users are using their cell phones while driving.

The trainer is ideal for this job. Few road users expect a bunch of police officers lurking out of the bus. In addition, truck drivers, who often feel safe due to their high seating position, can also be checked.

More than 30,000 euros fine for a single police operation

If an offender is spotted off the bus, one of the following cars will be used to throw the person onto the ticket. The fine for holding a phone has been €380 since the beginning of this year. The reason this fine is so high is because of the 600 road fatalities that occur on Dutch roads every year.

You can get the fine if you hold your phone while driving. If you stop, for example in a traffic jam or at a traffic light, the police cannot penalize you. If you want to change navigation while driving, your phone must be placed in a phone holder. However, whether this is safe is debatable. The same applies to the cars, where most of the settings are operated via a large touchscreen.

This is not only a lesson for callers and SMS drivers, but also enriches the state coffers significantly. During a recent control action in Zeeland and North Brabant, 86 fines were imposed for holding a mobile phone, the AD reports. The police are thus writing out almost 32,700 euros in vouchers for a campaign with the bus.

The most active speed camera in the Netherlands delivers less than one bus per day

This does not include the twelve fines imposed by the police for speeding violations during the campaign. So it’s better to let speed cameras control speed, it turns out. The most active speed camera in the Netherlands generates a small fortune every day.

In contrast to the speed camera, the observation vehicle also causes considerable costs. Not only the costs for the (rental) bus itself, but also for the team that monitors unsuspecting road users from the bus.

However, the tracking team, consisting of a dozen police vehicles, seems somewhat superfluous. The police should be fed up with one license plate. The CJIB then causes an unwanted purple envelope to fall on the mat.
