This is a famous TVR. This specimen has not only been immortalized in the GranTurismo games on the PlayStation, but has also appeared in various car magazines over the years. This is the only street legal TVR Cerbera Speed 12.

The TVR Cerbera Speed 12 was developed in the 1990s to beat the legendary McLaren F1 GTR on the track. Presented at the Birmingham Motor Show in 1996, it caused a sensation among the press and the public.

TVR Cerberea Speed 12 with 7.7 liter V12

Under the hood of the Speed 12 is a naturally aspirated 7.7-liter V12 engine. In fact, it’s two straight-six Speed Six engines together, producing 970 hp in race trim and around 850 hp in road-going trim.

Racing career was unfortunately short

The Speed 12’s career was short. After its debut in the FIA GT1 class, the rules were changed. “Prototypes” such as the Porsche 911 GT1 and the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR were also allowed to take part. Before that, GT1 cars had to be derived from a road car.

Peter Wheeler stopped development abruptly

The Speed 12 GT1 suddenly became obsolete, so TVR boss Peter Wheeler decided to focus on the £245,000 road car, which would be launched in 2000.

However, development came to an abrupt end when Wheeler took home one of the test prototypes and found the car to be too powerful and wild. He halted the project, refunded customers their advances, and stripped the Speed 12s already built.

TVR Cerbera Speed 12 with registration number W112 BHG

The Speed 12 continued to be used successfully in the GT2 championship for a few more years, but then the brutal twelve-cylinder was over. Until TVR made a surprise announcement in August 2003.

The company offered a TVR Cerbera Speed 12 for sale. The specimen had the registration number W112 BHG, but was actually not finished yet. From 2003 to 2005, a team of just three men worked to prepare the car.

It will soon be auctioned at Silverstone Auctions. The expected yield is unknown. According to the auction house, the TVR now weighs 1000 kilos and has an output of more than 860 hp and 1220 Nm of torque.
