Is the successor to the Lamborghini Aventador too complicated?

Lamborghini is about to draw the curtain on its new flagship, the successor to the Aventador. Today there are more details about the car known. Does it get too complicated?

Lamborghini is proud to announce that the new model, now known as the LB744, has 13 different driving modes. Isn’t that a bit too much? In addition to three “main modes”, you as a driver will soon be able to select four different driving modes so that the car behaves perfectly.

Fully electric driving

One of the main reasons for this huge amount of positions is the fact that this new Lamborghini will be a hybrid. So it can drive fully electric and has a complicated powertrain, so it has been programmed with special driving modes.

The three most important are Recharge, Hybrid and Performance. If you choose one of these three, you can further tune the car to Citta (City), Strada, Sport and Corsa (Track). You do all of this with two separate buttons on the steering wheel. In all the different modes, the electric motors (three in total, two on the front axle), the V12, the chassis and the aerodynamics all work together in the right way, depending on what you want from the car.

Only 180 hp

In all these different modes, the powertrain does not always deliver the same performance. When you drive a Citta, you only have 180 hp available and you use as little energy as possible. The Aventador successor delivers 886 hp in Strada mode and up to 907 hp in Sport mode. If you want to use all 1015 hp, you have to drive around in circuit mode.

This all sounds very complicated, and it is. Nevertheless, Lamborghini has made huge technological advances in recent years, so we can assume that the LB744 will also knock our socks off. We are curious.

Lighter and stiffer

Incidentally, Lamborghini reports many other details about the car that we can understand more easily. Take the all-new carbon fiber chassis, for example. It weighs 10 percent less than that of the Aventador while being 25 percent stiffer than the base of that model. New and active aerodynamics ensure an enormous increase in downforce. Compared to the Aventador, it is 61 percent more at the front and 66 percent at the rear.

It also has larger brakes: ten pistons in the front and 410×38mm (compared to six pistons and 400×38mm on the Aventador Ultimae), four pistons in the rear and 390×32mm (compared to 380×38mm). Finally, Lamborghini also reports the addition of electronic torque vectoring for better and faster power distribution to the four wheels.

Successor Lamborghini Aventador

That all sounds very positive, doesn’t it? We still have to wait for the full picture. Sometime in the coming weeks, Lamborghini will share all about its new V12 monster.
