Why someone paid 8000 euros for this Honda wreck

This wrecked Honda NSX has been lying at the bottom of a river for fifteen years. You might think you can’t do anything with it anymore, but someone paid 8000 euros for it. Why?

Hey, correction… That’s not a Honda NSX, it’s an Acura NSX, the American variant. It was raised by LSX Salvage after fifteen years in the water. “Anyone want another drowned NSX?” the company joked on Facebook.

And there was a deadly serious reaction. A man bought the Acura for $8,500, which is about 8,000 euros. He plans to restore the completely dilapidated sports coupe to new splendor.

That’s going to be a challenge, because after fifteen years in the water, there’s really nothing good left about the NSX. The photos show that the interior is silted up with mud.

It is unknown how the Acura ended up in the river. Apparently it was stolen and disposed of. The photos show that it no longer has a windscreen or side windows and that both A-pillars have taken a beating.

What is a Honda NSX worth now?

Is it worth putting that much money and effort into a water damaged Acura/Honda? Maybe if the renovation costs are kept to a minimum. A good first-gen NSX will now cost you about a ton.

The Ferrari 348’s Japanese competitor appeared in 1990 and remained in production for no less than fifteen years. Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna helped Honda adapt the chassis.

Originally, the NSX was powered by a 3.0-liter V6 with 274 hp. Later came a 3.2-liter unit with 294 hp. In 2002, the NSX received a facelift, with its pop-up headlights giving way to conventional, almost square light units.
