Electric car less popular with used car buyers
Although more and more new electric cars are being sold, the EV is not popular with used car buyers. In fact, the demand for a car with a gasoline engine has increased. This is the result of research by the car sales site Gaspeadal.nl.
Although only a small proportion of cars are electric (3.1 percent), more and more new electric vehicles are being sold. In 2022, 26 percent of all new cars sold in the Netherlands will be electric.
Electric cars less popular with used car buyers
E-cars are significantly less popular with used car buyers. Currently, 6.5 percent of used car searches are focused on an electric vehicle. In March 2022 it was still 11 percent, partly because of the high fuel prices.
Another factor is the price of an electric car as a used car. The average price of a used electric vehicle is 46,278 euros. The average search price is 19,603 euros. For used electric vehicles, you will still receive a 2,000 euro subsidy from the state.

The demand for electric used cars is now identical to the supply. With hybrids it is quite different. The demand for these cars has increased from 19.7 percent (beginning of 2022) to 22.6 percent (beginning of 2023). Demand for hybrid cars also peaked during the high fuel prices: 23.9 percent. Although demand is high, supply is lagging behind at 10.11 percent.
Hybrid drivers do not fill up with E10
You can drive with a plug-in hybrid both electrically and with petrol or diesel. However, you have to deal with the occasion differently than with a normal petrol engine. In some cases, for example, it is better to fill up with premium petrol than E10. How this works exactly, we explain in this article.
