AC Cobra GT Roadster: Old hero begins new life.
We don’t know if Elvis is alive, as some claim, but the new Cobra is showing signs of life. For example, we have news and pictures from the AC Cobra GT Roadster, which looks very similar to its ancestor but is completely new.

The new one sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 278 km/h if you opt for the most potent supercharged version. It has no less than 663 hp and a torque of 780 Nm. Impressive performance of the 5 liter supercharged Ford Coyote block used by AC Cars on this Cobra GT Roadster. Depending on the version selected, the sports car will be available with a manual six-speed gearbox or a ten-speed automatic.
Body and chassis new
The Cobra GT Roadster has a new carbon fiber body on a new aluminum spaceframe chassis developed in collaboration with Italian company Cecom. A company that carries out design, research and development for several brands. The 1400 kg GT Roadster is very similar in design to the original. The exterior design was created in collaboration with the Italian Icona Design Group.
Bigger than its ancestor
According to the manufacturer, the Cobra GT Roadster will be significantly larger than previous Cobras. The GT Roadster has a wheelbase of 2.57 meters, which is 28.4 cm longer than the original. The length of the car is 422.5 cm, eleven centimeters more than before. The 1.96 meter wide car is built in Good Old England. The AC Cars company also proudly claims to be the oldest active British car manufacturer, having been around since 1901.
Cobra GT Roadster more Grand Tourer
As befits a completely new car, this Cobra GT Roadster raises the bar at AC Cars. The car needs to offer more grand tourer handling characteristics and will be less of a spartan riding iron than its 1960s ancestor. For example, modern conveniences such as air conditioning, infotainment and power windows are now on board. The hard top is removable and, as you would expect in this exclusive segment, a lot of customization is possible.
What will it cost?
What the AC Cobra GT Roadster will ultimately cost here is unknown, but we do know the UK starting price of the car, which will be announced in its final form in April: £285,000. The new car will be made alongside the standard Cobra, which is almost indistinguishable from the legendary original.
