Sahara sand is coming! 3 tips to protect your car
Next Wednesday and Thursday evening you probably have a dirty car. A cloud of Saharan sand (Saharan dust) is coming towards us.
We have had a cloud of dust over our country several times. The question is always, will we notice something this time?
Three covers that protect your car from Sahara sand
But when the Sahara sands settle, you better be prepared. Now, of course, you can park your car indoors, but not everyone has a garage (or one big enough). That’s why we select three covers that will protect your car from the emerging Saharan sand.
1. Standard car cover
A good car cover can already protect your car from Saharan sand. If you leave your car outside, make sure you also have a suitable cover for it. Not all covers are moisture resistant, for example.
If you use a cover, you need to wash the car very well first. Dirt, dust and sand can cause scratches. Even if you leave the cover on your car for a long time and it is difficult for the moisture to escape, this can have negative consequences for your car.
2. car umbrella
If you want to reduce the risk of scratches, you can also order a real umbrella for your car. You place the construction on your roof with a suction cup and then unfold automatically.
The car umbrella naturally withstands the Sahara sand less than the car cover described above. In general, such a construction is also somewhat more expensive.
3. Car bubble
If you do not want your car to come into contact with the Sahara sand at all and the paintwork not to scratch at all, then you can opt for a so-called car bubble. This is a kind of inflatable garage box for your car, which also protects it completely.
There is a system in the Car Bubble that inflates the cover itself. As you can see in the video above, putting up the inflatable garage is a reasonable job. If you want to take it down again, it takes about 10 minutes to deflate and put back into the cover. Expensive and quite labour-intensive, but this way your car is well protected from the emerging Sahara sand, among other things.
