McLaren shows new track monster: This is the 720S GT3 EVO
McLaren raises the curtain on a new track monster, the 720S GT3 EVO. The car is the new star in GT3 championships around the world.
The 720S GT3 EVO is the superlative of the 720S GT3. In fact, you can turn this older model into an EVO with an update pack.
McLaren’s new track monster
The McLaren 720S GT3 EVO differs from its predecessor with body improvements. For example, the front bumper and splitter have been addressed and you can more easily replace them with quick-release fasteners if you broke them on the track.
The renewed slide provides more downward pressure so you can dive even harder into a turn. The extra downforce is mainly due to the large adjustable spoiler. In addition, an air scoop on the bonnet ensures better cooling of the engine block.
Not 720 hp
The M840T 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine is exactly the same as in the non-EVO. It is noticeable that the road versions of McLaren are more powerful. As the name suggests, it produces 720 hp. GT3 requirements do not allow that much power. How much exactly the racing monster delivers is not known.
To improve performance while maintaining the same performance, new Ohlins tunable dampers were installed. The front and rear upper control arms have also been redesigned to provide more adjustability.
McLaren 720S GT3 EVO is hand built
McLaren develops and produces all GT3 vehicles at Woking in Surrey (England). Everything is made by hand. What the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO will cost is still unclear. It is also not known what the brand is asking for the update package. The regular 720S GT3 is priced at £440,000 before tax. This amounts to approx. 390,250 euros. Racing remains an expensive hobby!
