Drive an electric car for 150 euros a month, that’s what Peugeot does!
Driving an electric car for 150 euros a month sounds too good to be true. Still, reality seems to be happening. Peugeot wants to offer the e-208 for the absurdly low lease price.
Linda Jackson, top woman from Peugeot, updates the AD on the plans for “Peugeot as you go”. The CEO’s plan would make driving significantly cheaper for many people.
Drive an electric car for 150 euros a month
Driving an electric car for 150 euros a month is of course super cheap. You can’t lease a car for that amount. Normally, the model costs 479 euros per month. This is a 60-month contract with a maximum of 10,000 kilometers per year.
Leasing the Peugeot e-208 for the super cheap amount has some disadvantages. You are only allowed to drive 500 kilometers per month. Each additional kilometer driven will cost you 7 cents.
Peugeot is already doing it in France
In France, Peugeot has already conducted a test of dirt-cheap electric driving. This has promising results, according to Jackson. “Keeping our cars accessible is very important to us and it complements that nicely,” the CEO told AD.
Driving an electric car for 150 euros a month is a solution for young people
Leasing an electric car for 150 euros a month is extremely cheap. Especially for young people. In fact, 150 euros is less than what young people pay for car insurance on average. Research by Geld.nl showed last week that motorists aged 18-20 paid an average of €183.05 per month for car insurance in 2022. This roughly corresponds to a mileage of 1,000 kilometers in the Peugeot e-208 with the extremely low leasing sum (leasing sum + 500 kilometers extra).
Peugeot’s CEO says final prices for the Dutch market will be communicated later this year.
