Tuner makes 458 Speciale better. Don’t let Ferrari hear it…

Modificata – an American Ferrari specialist – can expect a letter from a lawyer soon. Why? Because the company made the awesome 458 Speciale even better. And Ferrari doesn’t like that.

458 Special with manual transmission

Anyway, maybe the American specialist Modificata has a good relationship with Maranello. In any case, the company did something wonderful: the already legendary 458 Speciale, equipped with a manual gearbox.

The Ferrari 458 Speciale is on par with the 458 Italia, as is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS on a par with the 911. It’s a variant more geared towards track use. It has a 605 hp naturally aspirated V8 engine. Its successor, the 488 Pista, received a turbo engine.

New gearbox and center tunnel

Ferrari only supplied the 458 Speciale with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Modificata has now replaced that gearbox with a six-speed manual.

Of course, this is not an easy task, because in addition to the gearbox itself, the center tunnel also had to be replaced to make room for the shift rod. And of course a third pedal had to be added, the clutch.

Slower but more experience

A standard 458 Speciale accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds. The manual gearbox variant is probably a bit slower but undoubtedly offers even more experience.

Whether Modificata will offer the conversion to 458 Speciale owners is unknown. However, it would be strange not to do so. There are probably many wealthy enthusiasts who think a stick shift and three pedals in their Ferrari is an excellent idea.
