Dutch government sells Volkswagen Polo GTI

Dutch government sells Volkswagen Polo GTI

Every year the government confiscates cars for many reasons. These used and old service vehicles are then sold by the Ministry of Finance. Autovisie shows exactly how this works in this report.

This time there is a fast car for sale: a Volkswagen Polo GTI. You can bid on the car on the government website. If you bid the highest amount, you can pick up the car. This amount is not what you end up paying for your fresh car. In addition to your bid, there is an additional 15 percent buy-up.

Volkswagen Polo GTI with 200 hp

The sixth-generation Volkswagen Polo GTI was launched in 2017. The car received a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 200 hp. The GTI delivered from 2022 has 2 hp more. Autovisie has driven the 2018 model extensively. “You accelerate, the turbo takes a breath and you shoot,” was the big message about the test.

Test with the opportunity

“Halfway along the Afsluitdijk, near Breezanddijk, the harbor is a quiet place to walk around today’s artillery early in the morning. Hardly any surprises from the Volkswagen warehouse.”

“Excellent finish, sleek design, diamond-patterned bucket seats and excellent infotainment facilities. Secretly everything is very important in a car that is mainly used as a daily means of transport. The red decorative accents on the dashboard are striking, with which the usual Volkswagen dullness is finally broken. So the asking price of 30,050 euros doesn’t even seem that crazy.”

Even if the conclusion of the test was that the Ford Fiesta ST is more fun to drive as a sporty car enthusiast, the Polo GTI remains a wonderful car that you can just drive really fast.

Volkswagen Polo GTI in use by the government

You may be wondering if the car for sale at the Dutch government is such a good choice. The car is from 2019, had three owners in the Netherlands, was imported in 2022 and has – as far as we know – no maintenance history. The car has some minor damage.

A positive point is the mileage, which stands at 77,343. The question is whether this is true, as the car has only been in the Netherlands for a year.
