Lamborghini waves off the V12 with the Invencible and Auténtica
Lamborghini’s first hybrid is already raring to go and ready to take to the world stage. But before that happens, the Italians celebrate again. A toast to the almighty V12. Lamborghini does this with the very rare Invencible and Auténtica. Only one copy of the two eccentric super sports cars was built. It doesn’t get any rarer.
The design is typical Lamborghini: completely over the top. Loud colours, aggressive bumpers and hard, angular lines. The one of them Lamborghinis pay homage to three of the brand’s “design masterpieces”. For example, the Invencible coupe and Auténtica roadster are inspired by the unique style of the Reventón and Sesto Elemento, whose rear wings can be seen on the Invencible.
Those who know the brand will also see great similarities with the Veneno. Lamborghini recognized this and saw the ten-year-old model as a source of inspiration. “The Veneno went to extremes in its pursuit of aerodynamic perfection,” the brand praises its own model. Four of them were built in 2013.
Like the Veveno and Reventón, the Invencible and Auténtica are powered by naturally-breathing 6.5-liter twelve-cylinder engines. The mighty blocks deliver 780 hp and 720 Nm of torque, which is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Lamborghini is of course known for its screaming twelve-cylinder engines. “The V12 is a pillar in our history and partly responsible for our success,” says CEO Stephan Winkelmann about the legendary engine. “Before we enter the hybrid era, let’s give the V12 one last compliment.”
Price Lamborghini Invencible and Auténtica unknown
Nothing is known about a possible retail price for either the Invencible or the Auténtica. In any case, the exclusive cars will not be cheap. A one-off Bugatti Chiron recently went under the hammer for a record sum. Case in point: if you have to ask the price, you can’t afford it.
