The seven-seater SUV from Porsche is even larger than the Cayenne

When Porsche introduced the first Cayenne 20 years ago, enthusiasts couldn’t believe that the sports car maker would build a big, heavy SUV. As a sporty brand, it is now quite normal to have a sports utility vehicle in the model range. Porsche goes one step further and is working on a seven-seater.

According to anonymous sources within Porsche who are in contact with Autocar, the car will be launched in 2027 and the car will have to face direct competition from the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and the BMW iX.

An SUV bigger than the Porsche Cayenne

The codename for the large SUV from Porsche is K1. The car is more than five meters long and is not a real SUV. The body style is “part sedan, part crossover,” according to the sources. Maybe it’ll be a design similar to what Ferrari is doing with the Purosangue, but with seven seats.

As with the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and BMW iX, the drive train is fully electric. The price for Porsche’s electric super SUV must be over 170,000 euros.

No wonder Porsche is working on an electric car that’s bigger than the Cayenne. The Cayenne and Macan are both SUVs and the best-selling Porsches. The K1 aims to serve the two largest markets: North America and China.
