This Bugatti Chiron Profilée is the most expensive new car ever auctioned
The last Bugatti Chiron in the world, the Profilée, has gone under the hammer. This is also the last Bugatti with the famous W16. Never before has so much money been paid for a new car at an auction.
The question, of course, is: how much? An unknown buyer has – don’t be alarmed – 9,792,500 euros for the one of them Version of the Chiron paid. In addition, there are more than two million euros in taxes. You also buy 645 Toyota Aygos, 231 NIO ET5 or almost 32 Porsche 911 Sport Classics.
Limited edition
Of course, none of this can match the power and brutality of this Bugatti Chiron. Bugatti wanted to sell 500 of this model. In order to sell the hypercars, the French have come up with various special versions, just like in the days of the Veyron. Think of the Super Sport and the Pur Sport.
Bugatti’s clever minds also worked on the Profilée, a graceful version of the Chiron. In short: 1,500 hp and 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds. If you accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h your eyeballs have moved on the back of your head and you are 5.5 seconds ahead. That’s only marginally slower than a Formula 1 car, which does this sprint in around 4.5 seconds. The fact that Verstappen & Co do this without traction control and in cars with only rear-wheel drive is not taken into account for the sake of convenience.
Consumption of the Bugatti Chiron Profilee
Pretty side note: With the Profilée you just don’t get an average consumption of 1 to 4. At low speeds it even goes towards 1 to 2. Not that the buyer would have thought about it.
The intention was to make thirty. However, it never got that far. While the Profilée was still being developed, the 500th Bugatti Chiron flew over the counter. Luckily, the automaker felt it was a shame to scrap the Profilée idea, so a single example of the horsepower monster was built.
Unique color
The car already has 396 kilometers on the clock. Nevertheless, Bugatti has guaranteed the buyer that it is not a used car. You can also count on this if you deposit almost 10 million euros for your Chiron. Those miles were likely traveled while filming this high-energy “product video.”
Earlier this month, Paris provided the backdrop for this record-breaking auction. It is to be hoped that this one-of-a-kind will not quietly disappear into a garage. Well, quiet? That won’t be the case with an 8.0-liter W16.
