Why Tesla is investing more than 3 billion euros
Tesla was founded by Elon Musk in 2003 and has since grown into a giant in the electric car market. The company is investing heavily to keep it that way. This time it is about an amount of 3.3 million euros.
The money that Elon Musk’s company invests stays in its native America. Although much of the production still takes place in the US, Teslas are also built in China.
Tesla invests more than 3 billion euros in factories
Tesla is investing the €3.3 billion in two new factories on an existing site in Reno, Nevada. Batteries will be produced at the new locations and the all-electric Tesla Semi truck will roll off the production line.
Due to the expansion, the truck must be delivered to customers worldwide more quickly. The battery factory has to produce enough cells for 2 million cars a year.
employment opportunities
According to the US government, the expansion plans and investments of 3.3 billion euros are good for employment. “This will create 3,000 high-paying jobs in Nevada,” said Democrat Mitch Landrieu, a senior White House adviser.
In addition, America sees Tesla’s investment as a step towards a more environmentally neutral life. “It helps America lead the way in clean energy and our security of supply,” adds Landrieu.
The new factories aren’t Nevada’s first. A gigafactory was opened in 2024 to build motors, batteries and charging systems.
