Very expensive unit makes your “cheap” Porsche Cayenne modern

Very expensive unit makes your “cheap” Porsche Cayenne modern

You can now tap into the very first Porsche Cayenne for a few thousand euros. However, with this you buy an outdated car with a rather outdated interior. Fortunately, there is now an (expensive) solution to this problem.

For owners of a Cayenne, 997 or 987, Porsche now offers a very nice accessory. You can now knock on the door for a brand new infotainment system that fits right into your car’s dashboard.

see and feel

As a result, nothing is lost from the original dashboard. The new system is designed in such a way that the look and feel are based on the original components. Think of the air conditioning knobs. All original accessories in the cars, including speakers and antennas, can still be used.

The upside, of course, is that the infotainment screen itself is all new and up-to-date. Specifically, it is a 7-inch touchscreen equipped with DAB+ radio, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In addition, the owners of a 997 and 987 get an extra. You can also save personal vehicle settings with the new system. Think of lighting and door lock settings.

PCCM

Since the new PCCM system, as Porsche calls it, can deal with the initial equipment of the cars, the addition can also be easily reversed. This way you don’t screw up the originality of the model.

This is of course not entirely new. Two years ago, Porsche had the idea of offering such infotainment systems for classic Porsches. Then a system in 1-DIN and 2-DIN format came onto the market. For example, cars such as the first 911, 928, 914 and 996 could be equipped with modern infotainment without affecting the original interior of these models.

Price Cayenne second hand

Would you like to equip your Cayenne with such a system? Then look at the price first. Only the system itself costs 1687.95 euros without installation. In other words: a third of the cost of a used Cayenne. The cheapest we find costs 5000 euros.

That’s not to say that a first-generation Cayenne isn’t anything special anymore. The regular specimens may have turned out to be deprecation cannons, but there are really special and expensive versions to be found. What about the 450 hp Turbo S? Or the GTS, with 400 hp V8 and manual transmission? You’re already paying a sizable amount for the latter, and you can bet prices will go up for this particular version.
