Finding the ultimate route in your Porsche will soon be even easier

Finding the ultimate route in your Porsche will soon be even easier

Not so long ago, car manufacturers liked to develop infotainment and navigation devices themselves, but in recent years they have increasingly outsourced this to specialized companies. Porsche is currently in talks with Google about such a similar collaboration.

that writes Automotive News Europe based on one source. Porsche and Google are in talks with the ultimate goal of making Google features standard in the brand’s cars. If that actually happens, a phone will no longer be needed to use apps like Maps in the car. According to the source, this only affects the Porsche brand and therefore not the entire Volkswagen Group. Porsche and Google have not yet responded to the rumours.

AliBaba

The collaboration is of course not very crazy. After all, Porsche has been in talks with several tech companies for some time to establish a similar collaboration. Think of organizations like Apple, Baidu and AliBaba. In addition, Porsche is far from the only manufacturer having these thoughts. Numerous brands are conducting exploratory talks to improve their digital offerings.

On the other hand, a partnership between Porsche and Google would be quite unique. After all, Porsche is in the premium segment and wants to offer customers a unique experience. This also includes the infotainment options and of course they have to be at a higher level than in cars from other brands that also use Google options.

Volvo and Ford

Now that Google is successfully working with several car manufacturers, Porsche would again be interested in a design in which Google supplies the software equipment in the car. Volvo, General Motors, Ford, Nissan and Renault, for example, are already working with the American tech giant and are therefore already using Google Automotive Services.

Nevertheless, there are still many automobile manufacturers who do not want to think about such a cooperation. There are fears that they will share consumer data with third parties. For example, Porsche and Google have already held talks, but storing the data was a bottleneck for the sports car manufacturer at the time. BMW also attaches great importance to its own operating system. Still, the integration of Google and Apple applications into the new iDrive system goes a long way. Nevertheless, the Bavarian carmaker is still sticking to its own system.
