Car of the year candidate (7/7): Volkswagen ID. to hum

The resolution for the 2023 Car of the Year election is approaching. As in previous years, seven finalists were selected. Each day for the next seven days, we will be highlighting a contender for Car of the Year.

This year’s Car of the Year awards will take place on January 13th. Until then, the live stream can be seen via Autovisie.nl.

Volkswagen ID. Buzz Car of the Year

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is perhaps one of the most eye-catching cars of the year. With the electric van, VW wants to go back to the classic T1, the well-known hippie van.

Although the potential annual car doesn’t really resemble the classic car, the optional two-tone paint job – with a price tag of 1800 euros – suits the design well. The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is available as a company bus with only one front seat and with 7 seats. Whichever version you choose, the bus is 4.7 meters long and almost 2 meters wide. A big EV!

The ID Buzz is on Volkswagen’s MEB platform. Like the old T1, the engine is on the rear axle, but in this case it is fully electric. The output is 150 kW (204 hp) and 310 Nm of torque. The electric motor is powered by a 77 kWh battery pack, which allows you to drive 410 kilometers according to WLTP.

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo can be ordered from 46,200 euros without BMP and VAT. Including taxes, you’ll have to pay more than 57 grand for the freight. The MPV version of the Volkswagen ID. Buzz can only be ordered as a 1st edition. The price is then at least 71,490 including taxes.
