The Tesla Cybertruck is late! This is the Ram 1500 EV Revolution

Tesla’s stock market value collapsed by 65 percent last year. Causes? The bizarre behavior of Elon Musk, who now spends most of his time on Twitter, and the bleak outlook for the global economy. The Tesla Cybertruck is needed more than ever but is being overtaken by anything and everything in the electric pickup segment, including this new Ram 1500 EV Revolution.

The story is well known: Elon Musk introduced the Tesla Cybertruck in 2019 and promised that it would be launched the following year. But like almost all promises made by the Canadian South African with an American passport, it has not been fulfilled. There is no production version of the Cybertruck, although Musk now promises that it will really come in 2023.

Electric trucks including Ram 1500 EV

Meanwhile, the electric pickup segment is filling up with a number of highly successful models, such as the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 EV. The GMC Sierra EV and this Ram 1500 EV Revolution will also be added in the not too distant future.

With 800 volt system for super fast charging

Strictly speaking, the latter is still a concept car, but it looks quite ready for series production. Ram – which is part of Stellantis – isn’t revealing any specs just yet. All we really know is that the Ram 1500 EV has air suspension and steering and counter-steering rear wheels (up to 15 degrees) as standard.

It is also known that the Ram 1500 always has four-wheel drive and has an 800-volt system on board with which it can quickly charge up to 350 kW: around 160 kilometers per 10 minutes.

Charging robot that crawls under the car itself

Remarkably, Ram speaks of a robot loader. Called the Ram Charger, the device lives in your garage or driveway, positioning itself in the right place under the pickup to charge it. The robot knows how much the truck needs and takes peak and off-peak times into account.

Ram 1500 EV with a very long loading area

The Ram 1500 EV cab has a completely flat floor (no transmission tunnel required). Suicide doors make getting in very easy. At the rear it is noticeable that the wheel arches do not penetrate into the cargo box. The study rolls on 24-inch wheels.

Like the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Ram features a frunk, a storage compartment in the front of the nose. A fun feature is that you can open a hatch between the trunk and the cab and between the cab and the cargo bed, allowing you to take a long load of no less than 5.4 meters. So a load that protrudes forward through the cabin.
