Aston Martin DBS retired early as the Ultimate with 770 hp

The ailing Aston Martin is sending its flagship, the DBS, into early retirement. After only five years, the beautiful Grand Tourer comes to an end. Aston Martin says goodbye with the 770 hp DBS 770 Ultimate.

By the way, if you think you’ve caught us making a mistake, you’re wrong. Since 2021, the DBS is no longer called DBS Superleggera. Because at Aston Martin they also noticed that it is a bit ridiculous to describe a 1700-kilo sports car as “super light”.

Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate with 45 hp more

In any case, the DBS came onto the market at the end of 2018 and is now entering its last year. The “normal” DBS has a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 with 725 hp. The 770 Ultimate adds 45 hp.

What that does to the performance of the DBS is not known. The standard version accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 340 km/h.

Aston Martin plans to build no more than 499 units of the DBS 770 Ultimate. The car will be unveiled shortly and is expected to cost well over €400,000.

Same engine as Aston Martin DBS Zagato

Incidentally, the higher performance of the DBS 770 Ultimate is not as special as it sounds. It is simply equipped with the Aston Martin DBS Zagato’s V12, also with 770 hp.

Special editions of the DBS Superleggera

Because yes, the 770 Ultimate is certainly not the first special edition Aston Martin of the DBS on the market. In 2019, the British sports car brand launched the OHMSS Edition to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

In the same year, Aston Martin introduced the DBS Zagato, which could only be purchased together with a “new” DB4 Zagato. The sets – nineteen of which were to be built – cost €6.7 million each.

There was also the DBS 59, the Concorde Edition, the TAG Heuer Edition and of course the Calibrated 007 Edition, a slightly beautified DBS with some 007 logos here and there.
