This is the new electric car from Volkswagen: the ID.7
Volkswagen lifts the curtain on the electric ID.7. The EV is the plug-in alternative to the VW Passat.
The ID.7 is the first all-electric sedan from Volkswagen. It is one of ten new electric models that the brand plans to launch in 2026.
Volkswagen ID.7 electric counterpart Passat
The Volkswagen ID.7 thus serves the same segment as the Passat now. Nevertheless, the new ID. be a little bigger. The wheelbase of the electric car is 2.97 meters. The current Passat has a wheelbase of 2,791 meters. The exact external dimensions are not yet known. It is also unclear what the exact technical data of the VW ID.7 are.
700 km range
The Volkswagen ID.7 is based on the same modular MEB platform as the rest of the ID. family anyway. It is not yet known which battery pack is located in the floor of the sedan. However, VW specifies the range as 700 kilometers. This is reportedly with a 77kWh battery pack. This battery pack had the ID. Aero Concept, which Volkswagen also refers to in this introduction.
Volkswagen ID.7 has a slightly different interior
The interior of the 7 Series is different than you know it from the other IDs. Although the steering wheel and the position of the infotainment screen are similar to what is already familiar, the interior looks different due to the repositioning of the ventilation system.
The air vents are placed in a line under the dashboard and are therefore no longer the familiar separate vents. The grilles no longer have knobs to rotate the airflow direction, you now have to do this via the Volkswagen ID.7’s infotainment.
In addition, the screen has become significantly larger and now has a diameter of 15 inches. The digital clock panel, on the other hand, has become significantly smaller and therefore only shows the essential information.
More will be announced this year
