Tesla Semi spotted on public roads! This is what the electric truck sounds like
Tesla has finally started delivering the Semi after around five years. Now clearly the first pictures of the electric truck.
Not a pre-production model or concept version. No, the semis are now officially being shipped to customers.
Tesla Semi on public roads
With (a lot of) luck you can spot a Tesla Semi on public roads in the USA. Your best chance is near one of the PepsiCo factories.
In 2017, the food and beverage company ordered a hundred copies. Only now are the first electric trucks driving around with advertising for one of the brands.
This is what the Tesla Semi sounds like
An observant Tesla driver spotted a Semi advertising Frito-Lay, an American brand of chips. Such a nice paint job, but of course that’s not the point. We were curious about the sound of the three electric motors, which have to do quite a lot. And, as you’d expect, they’re extremely quiet.
You already know the drive train of an electric truck
You already know the drive train with three electric motors from the Tesla Model S and X Plaid. We are used to driving as efficiently as possible on the Autobahn. The other two are responsible for the torque when the electric truck has to accelerate at traffic lights.

The range of the Tesla Semi is still unclear. Elon Musk claims the truck has a range of 500 miles when fully charged and loaded. The total weight is then 81,000 pounds (36,741 kilograms). How much the truck itself weighs and how far you can go with less or no load will be known at a later date.
To cover such a long distance with that much weight, the Tesla has a 1000 kWh battery pack on board. This battery pack can be charged with a “Megacharger” with 1 megawatt.
Electric truck price still unclear
In addition to the range, Elon Musk is also silent on the price of the Tesla Semi. The price should be around 200,000 euros.
