Mercedes introduces subscription to accelerate faster

American owners of Mercedes-Benz electric cars will soon be able to subscribe to accelerate faster. It is about an amount of 1200 dollars (approx. 1140 euros) per year.

Anyone who thought it couldn’t get even crazier after the BMW seat heating subscription is wrong. With this acceleration subscription, Mercedes goes one step further.

Mercedes subscription to accelerate faster

Mercedes-Benz therefore wants customers to be able to subscribe to accelerate faster. These are the EQE 350 and the EQS 450. The function provides more power and more torque from the electric motor without having to adjust anything on the hardware.

That’s a performance increase of 20 to 24 percent. The Mercedes EQE 350 sprints from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.2 seconds. By default, this is 6.2 seconds.

As with the BMW heated seat subscription, the car’s hardware is already ready for an upgrade. Only the software of the Mercedes has to be adjusted.

The US state of New Jersey wants to intervene

BMW’s subscription drew a lot of criticism. Not only among car fans, the American state of New Jersey also disagrees with the German manufacturer.

The state has even introduced a bill that would prohibit manufacturers from offering security and convenience features on a subscription basis. At least if the physical parts are already available when you buy the car. If a manufacturer violates the rule, they must pay a fine of $10,000 for the first violation and $20,000 for all subsequent violations.

The manufacturer from Stuttgart is a bit outside of this calculation with its subscription to accelerate faster. That’s because only safety and comfort features are mentioned and no performance.

It is unclear whether Mercedes will really implement the Acceleration subscription

It remains to be seen whether Mercedes-Benz will actually implement the idea in the end. When it is introduced, America will come first.
