Tesla drivers will soon be able to hold video meetings via Zoom. Way?
Yes, you are no longer safe anywhere from your colleagues. Zoom and Tesla will soon enable in-car video conferencing. Let’s hope it doesn’t work while driving…
Zoom is the opposite of Teams. The software allows you to hold video calls and video meetings. The company announced earlier this week that it was partnering with Tesla. The zoom function will be built into Tesla’s infotainment system very soon.
Zoom uses a camera located near the interior mirror
There is no need to change the car’s hardware. Zoom will soon simply use the rear-view camera that monitors the interior of most Teslas. A microphone is of course already available, otherwise voice commands would not work.
Elon Musk wants to be integrated since 2020
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been talking about integrating Zoom into cars since 2020. Logically, because that was when the global Corona crisis began, which made the use of teams in companies and households commonplace. Incidentally, Musk wasn’t always a fan of Zoom. His space company SpaceX has banned its use over safety concerns.
Video calls while driving are allowed
Anyway, zoom in on the car… Is that also allowed while driving? Yes, oddly because it’s considered hands-free. Although we can imagine having the image of one or more colleagues on the screen in your moving Tesla can be very distracting. Zoom therefore turns off the image when you on road are. You can still hear the audio. Video calls are only possible when you are parked.
