When spring comes again, Alfa Romeo announces a supercar
Alfa Romeo is really going to do it: introduce a supercar. The announcement could come as early as March 2023, according to Jean-Philippe Imparato, the CEO of the Italian brand.
“Yes, we are working on a limited edition Alfa Romeo,” Imparato told British Autocar. “It’s not ready yet, but we’re working on it. We also don’t yet know exactly what the positioning will look like. There are many Alfa Romeo fans asking for something very special.”
“The Alfa Romeo sports car is becoming iconic and super sexy”
It is not known whether it is an electric model or a sports car with a petrol engine. What it certainly won’t be is a piece of toy that you can’t use on public roads. “The car will be iconic and super sexy,” says Imparato, who immediately kicks in an open door: “You will immediately recognize it as an Alfa Romeo.”
Possibly as a farewell to the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6
A few months ago, Imparato told another British outlet: “You’re going to see something sporty in the first half of 2023. And I can tell you: it will be exciting, expensive and limited.” Alfa will probably say goodbye with the sports car to the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 from the Giulia Quadrifoglio, which delivers 540 hp in the GTA.
An Alfa version of the electric Jeep Avenger is coming
In the coming years, Alfa will introduce a new model every year. The future sports car falls outside of this schedule. Two SUVs are coming: one smaller than the Tonale (based on the Jeep Avenger) and one larger (the successor to the Stelvio). In addition, a replacement for the Giulia is planned and possibly even a new Spider.
