Dive into the price list: the Toyota GR86
The Toyota GR86 has finally made the crossing to Europe. If you are interested, you have to be quick. The model will only be available here for two years. So we quickly dive into the price list and put together our desired copy.
It’s a car enthusiasts have been waiting for: the new Toyota GR86. It is the direct successor to the GT86 and although the car has been improved on a number of points, fortunately as much as possible has stayed the same. That means old-fashioned enjoyment of naturally aspirated engines, rear-wheel drive and still a manual transmission.
Brief career for Toyota GR86
We were able to experience twice that you can still experience old-fashioned driving fun with the Toyota GR86, but now the car can finally actually be ordered. As I said, you have to be quick if you are interested, because the European career of the Toyota GR86 is short. In 2024 it will disappear from the range again. This has to do with new regulations. Not only are the average CO2 specifications for a brand’s model range becoming more stringent, but a number of additional driver assistance systems will also become mandatory from this year. Two requirements that the GR86 cannot meet… By the way, the car is also available as a Subaru BRZ, just like the previous generation, but it’s no longer coming to Europe anyway.
Build the ideal Toyota GR86
So it’s urgent, so we’ll put together our desired copy quickly. There are two versions to choose from: Pure and Premium. As the name suggests, one offers more luxury than the other.
As standard, the Toyota GR86 comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, leather steering wheel (different upholstery fabric), heated seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, a 7-inch digital instrument panel and an 8-inch screen for infotainment. Notably, an electrically operated tailgate is also standard.
The Premium has, among other things, 18-inch alloy, half-leather upholstery, aluminum pedals, blind spot and parking assistant. Anyone who opts for the automatic transmission will receive some additional assistance systems in the form of a pre-collision system with emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assistant and automatic high beam.
Powertrain Toyota GR86
The automatic transmission brings us to the powertrain. The Toyota GT86 also has a four-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 2.4 liters, an output of 172 kW (234 hp) and a torque of 250 Nm. Drive always goes to the rear wheels, either via a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The manual version is marginally faster with a 0-100 time of 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 226 km/h. With an automatic transmission, the sprint takes 6.8 seconds and the top speed is 216 km/h.
Prices Toyota GR86
Does it cost everything? The Toyota GR86 is available in the Pure version from 61,990 euros. The Premium costs at least 65,490 euros or 66,990 euros with an automatic transmission. Unfortunately such a pure sports car remains a precious story in the Netherlands… We also want our sports car to be as pure as possible, so it will be the Pure.
exterior decoration
Notably, Toyota does not use a uniform body color on the GR86. There is an additional cost for each color choice. The cheapest variant is silver metallic for 995 euros. Every other body color costs 1,395 euros, then you can choose between the metallic colors black, red and dark gray, plain light blue or white or dark blue mother-of-pearl paintwork. We opt for the latter.
There is no wheel selection. Both versions have a model-specific wheel type, in this case this 17-inch alloy wheel.
interior design
We’re done quickly with this step, too, because the black fabric cover is the only option.
Lots of options
The options list is also short, as it only contains the accessories that you can order for any Toyota. Let’s check the ProTect interior and rim protection (113 and 401 euros respectively) to keep our GR86 beautiful longer. We all believe in accessories like shopping crates, roof boxes and bike racks for our sports coupe.
