DANGER! Municipalities wrongly impose fines
According to research by the TV show Kassa, drivers are being unfairly fined on a massive scale. A large proportion of parking fines last year were unjustified.
If you receive a fine, you must always pay close attention. A fine is not always justified. In particular, you should carefully examine the parking fines imposed by municipalities.
An unjustified fine
Kassa’s research shows that municipalities make many mistakes. For example, the municipality of Rotterdam received 100,000 objections in 2023, 75 percent of which were justified. This means that a fine was wrongly imposed at least 75,000 times.
In other municipalities, too, many fines appear to be imposed incorrectly. For example, the city of Amsterdam received 95,000 appeals against parking fines last year. 64 percent of people who filed an appeal had a decision in their favor. Last year The Hague received more than 50,000 appeals, 43 percent of which were submitted correctly.
These municipalities also often make mistakes when it comes to fines
According to Trafficboete.nl, other municipalities that often incorrectly issue a fine are: Zaanstad, Almere, Alphen aan de Rijn, Zwolle, Breda and Diemen.
According to Kassa, a lot goes wrong with scan cars. Anyone who has a parking permit sometimes receives a fine and, when loading and unloading, license plates are scanned and registered as illegal parking.
This is what you have to do if you receive an unjustified fine
