Why this Dodge muscle car is affordable in the Netherlands

A month ago we wrote for the first time about the prices of the Ford Mustang in the Netherlands. Thanks to BPM, the muscle car has a starting price of just under 132,000 euros. Its competitor, the Dodge Charger, is said to be significantly cheaper.

The new Dodge Charger is available with a fully electric powertrain. However, a six-cylinder version is also built.

To mention the Ford Mustang with V8 in the same breath as the all-electric Dodge Charger isn’t entirely fair. Not at all, because Ford also has an electric version of the Mustang, the Mach-E. At least the name is the same. Actually, these two cars have nothing to do with each other.

This is not the case with the Dodge. The car stands on the STLA Large platform, which is suitable for both fuel engines and electric drives. In contrast to the Mach-e, the design screams muscle car.

The screaming stops here, because the 3.0-liter inline-six will make a lot less noise than a roaring V8, thanks in part to the two turbos. Depending on the version, the V6 delivers 558 or 425 hp.

Electric Dodge Charger for the Netherlands

An electric drive would also make the Dodge Charger attractive in the Netherlands. However, it is still unclear whether the muscle car will actually come to us. Autovisie is still waiting for a response from Dodge. Of course, you can always import it yourself.

The electric Dodge Charger is called Daytona and is available as an R/T with 503 hp and as a Scat Pack with 680 hp. The electric top model sprints from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.3 seconds.

The power of the electric charger comes from two electric motors, one on the front and one on the rear axle. The petrol version also has all-wheel drive. You can still drift with the muscle car. It has special drift and donut driving modes.

The electric motors are connected to a battery pack with a capacity of 100.5 kWh. This means you can drive 510 kilometers with the R/T and 420 kilometers with the Scat Pack. The range was measured using the more stringent American measurement method. According to the WLTP measurement method, the cars will undoubtedly come further.
