Legendary F1 driver Gerhard Berger’s stolen Ferrari tracked down after almost 30 years

Almost thirty years after it was stolen, a fast Ferrari sports car belonging to legendary Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger (64) has been recovered by British investigators.

The Ferrari F512M was stolen from the Imola circuit in Italy in April 1995 during the San Marino GP.

British police tracked down the car after a tip from Ferrari. The car was sold by a British car dealer to an American buyer. When the police managed to track down the car, it was discovered that it was the car stolen in 1995. The sports car is now worth more than 400,000 euros.

Shortly after the theft in Italy, the Ferrari is said to have been shipped to Japan. The car appeared in the UK in 2023. No arrests were reportedly made. At the time of the theft, another sports car was stolen. Bergers’ Ferrari teammate Jean Alesi’s car is still missing.

A popular F1 driver for fourteen seasons between 1984 and 1997, Austrian Berger won ten Grands Prix and finished third in the World Championship twice.
