The new Maserati GranCabrio is better than ever, but it’s still missing something

Maserati lifts the curtain on the new GranCabrio. The GranTurismo’s open-top sibling is expected to be better than ever, but there’s still something missing from this true Italian’s nose.

Autovisie drove the brand new GranTurismo last year. The car is much better than its predecessor in many areas.

Maserati GranCabrio

We also see these improvements in the Maserati GranCabrio. The choice of materials is much better and the workmanship is much higher than its predecessor. The seating comfort of the GT was also significantly better. This will not be different (big) in the open version.

In the video below, Autovisie editor Dries van den Elzen takes you inside the Maserati GranTurismo. He tells you everything about the driving characteristics of the car.

However, like the Maserati GranCabrio, this GranTurismo is missing an important element: the eight-cylinder. The new generation delivers two cylinders.

The Maserati GranCabrio has a six-cylinder engine

The previous generation Maserati GranCabrio and GranTurismo featured a 4.7-liter V8. This has now been replaced by a 3.0 liter V6 with two turbos. This ensures less driving experience, but fewer emissions and more performance.

The drive source in the Trofeo, currently the only version, produces 542 hp and 650 Nm of torque. This is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission that always distributes power to all four wheels. Air suspension and variable shock absorbers are also standard.

The classic Maserati A6GCS served as inspiration for the design of the new GranCarbio and GranTurismo. The round shapes and the oval radiator grille are reminiscent of the car from the 1950s.

That’s what the convertible costs

What this Maserati GranCabrio doesn’t lack is a proud price. You will spend at least 292,166 euros on the Trofeo in the Netherlands. Cheaper variants will follow later and there will also be a Folgore version with a fully electric drive.
