Dive into the price list: This is how much the new Volkswagen Tiguan costs
The Volkswagen Tiguan is in its third model generation. By looking at the price list we are made aware of this potential bestseller.
The Golf may be the most well-known model, but the Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the brand’s most important models. Or even the most important thing. Just think about it: a midsize SUV sells almost worldwide. A new generation of models is therefore big news. Read more about the new Tiguan here. We’ve already been able to drive the new model, now we’ll see how we like to put it together.
Versions and prices Volkswagen Tiguan
The Volkswagen Tiguan is available with four powertrains and three equipment variants, which can be combined to create seven different variants. For 46,990 euros you can drive off in the “unnamed” entry-level model, equipped with a 96 kW (130 hp) 1.5 eTSI petrol engine with mild hybrid technology and a seven-speed automatic transmission. For 49,990 you get a higher trim level, the Life Edition. Transfer 51,990 euros if you want the same engine with an output of 110 kW (150 hp), or 54,990 euros for this variant as R-Line Business.
There is also a 1.5 eHybrid, a plug-in hybrid with standard 150 kW (204) hp and six-speed automatic transmission, available from 50,990 euros. Then you immediately have the Life Edition. The slightly more luxurious R-Line Business is available for 53,990 euros. The top model is the 1.5 eHybrid with 200 kW (272 hp), only available as R-Line Business and from 55,990 euros.
Volkswagen Tiguan equipment
What do you get for this money? The “unnamed” entry-level car comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.9-inch touchscreen for the multimedia system with VW Connect Plus and automatic air conditioning (single zone) and the ‘series package of assistance systems.
The Life Edition also offers: LED headlights with extended functions, integrated navigation, electrically adjustable comfort front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charger, tinted and sound-insulating rear windows, electrically operated tailgate and adaptive cruise control. The top model R-Line Business expands this with predominantly 20-inch light alloy, front seats with massage function and a slightly sportier appearance thanks to R-Line decor.
The R-Line looks a bit “thicker”, but also has a relatively high additional price compared to what you get in terms of additional equipment. Therefore we choose the Life Edition. We rely on the most powerful drive (for the Life): the 1.5 eHybrid with 204 hp. For minimal additional costs compared to the Life with its standard 130 hp petrol engine, the eHybrid offers you significantly more power with significantly lower consumption. Assuming, of course, that you charge the battery properly when needed.
Outdoor decoration
Every new Volkswagen Tiguan is delivered as standard in a very dark gray, almost black. White is always an option at no additional cost. There is no additional charge for the metallic colors of the Life and R-Line. In addition to the usual gray tones, you can choose from dark blue, bright red and a greyish dark green. Finally, there are two mother-of-pearl colors: black and white, although only the latter incurs an additional charge of 290 euros. Our preference is red.
For 590 euros you can swap the standard 17-inch wheels for 18-inch wheels. 19-inch models cost an additional 890 euros and for 20-inch wheels you pay 1,590 euros more.
You can see the different designs above. We opt for the 19-inch Catania rims.
Interior decoration
The Volkswagen Tiguan Life is equipped with fabric upholstery in black/dark gray as standard. You can opt for the interior package for 2,990 euros.
Then there is gray and black perforated Varenna leather, but also more luxurious front seats with a massage function. We check the package.
Packages and individual options
Added to this are the options, almost all of which are included in packages. There is the design package (490 euros), which, contrary to the name, primarily includes additional advanced functions for the headlights and taillights, such as LED matrix headlights. There is also the Comfort package (490 euros, mainly steering wheel and seat heating), the Comfort package Plus (890 euros, additional leather steering wheel, rear seat and window heating) and the Assistance package (990 euros, bucket with assistance systems). ). The standard multimedia package includes navigation, voice control and a wireless smartphone charger. With the Multimedia Package Plus (1,990 euros) you can expand this to include a head-up display and a Harman Kardon audio system.
We tick the Comfort Package Plus and the Multimedia Package Plus. We actually wanted the Design Package too, but that is only allowed in combination with the Assistance Pack and we don’t need it.
Then there are a few separate options, for example a panoramic sliding/tilting roof (1,290 euros). This also applies to accessories such as luggage net (190 euros), extra 230 V connection in the luggage compartment (190 euros) and trailer hitch (1,190 euros, including Trailer Assist). We leave it for a while.
