This MG will be the first truly affordable Chinese car in the Netherlands

The Chinese cars that have come to Europe in recent years are often electric and therefore still expensive for the average citizen. MG will change this and offer an affordable car.

Autovisie already knew last summer whether MG would come to Europe with a Volkswagen Polo competitor. MG 3 was an obvious name.

The cheapest Chinese car in the Netherlands is currently the BYD Dolphin with a price of 29,990 euros. The MG should be cheaper.

Affordable car

The model is called MG 3 and can be seen as a competitor to the Dacia Sandero. The 3 will be MG’s cheapest offering and will serve the lower end of the market.

In terms of external dimensions, the difference to the competitors (Polo and Sandero) is minimal. However, the luggage compartment is a bit small at 293 liters.

What sets the MG 3 apart is its drivetrain. Under the hood is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that works in conjunction with an electric motor to produce 194 hp. The electric motor is connected to a 1.83 kWh battery pack. Thanks to the hybrid drive, the affordable car only needs to consume 4.4 liters per 100 kilometers. Purely electric driving is also possible. Inside, you’ll find a 7-inch display and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen behind the steering wheel.

The price MG 3

Although the MG 3 is likely to become one of the cheapest new cars on the Dutch market, it is still unclear whether it can really keep up with the Dacia Sandero in terms of price. The Romanian car is available from just over 17,000 euros. MG itself calls the 3 a Volkswagen Polo competitor. This model only starts at 26,990 euros.
