Research: These are the most popular and least popular auto insurers
Don’t know which insurer to take out car insurance with? Maybe this research can help you make your choice. The market researcher Multiscope has determined which car insurers have the best and which have the worst customer satisfaction.
This is measured with the so-called NPS, which stands for Net Promoter Score. This number is determined by asking customers to what extent they would recommend their car insurer to others. Respondents can answer with a number from 0 to 10. Those who specified 0 to 5 (the critic), are then subtracted from eights, nines and tens (the promoter).
Top rated car insurers
Now that we have learned the necessary research jargon, we can now focus on the results. First of all, the NPS that Dutch car insurers achieve on average: +58. This emerges from the survey carried out among 5,200 Dutch car owners and in which about forty parties took part. Anything above +58 is better than average and anything below is below average.
The most reputable car insurer appears to be ZLM, which operates mainly in Zeeland and North Brabant. With a value of +96, the insurer is way ahead. What is striking is how far the small insurance company is above the other motor vehicle insurers. However, Multiscope assures Autovisie that it is a completely independent investigation. InShared (+69), Centraal Beheer (+67), ANWB (+67) and Univé (+65) complete the remaining top 5.
Insurers with the worst customer satisfaction
Where there are winners, there are also losers. In this case it is De Goudse. Although opinion about the insurer is still positive with an NPS of +15, De Goudse performs well below the average of all motor insurers.
It is also striking that young people between the ages of 18 and 35 are significantly less positive than insured people in the age group over 50. Perhaps something will change if the number of years without claims increases. Additionally, it seems that the more insured you are, the greater your satisfaction. Respondents who reported having comprehensive insurance achieved an average NPS of +63, while respondents with only liability insurance achieved an average NPS of +43.
