Why this Chrysler Halcyon is a new Alfa Romeo
Chrysler is a brand that almost no longer exists. There are only two models available in the US, both of which are very old. But that should change with this Halcyon.
We call the Chrysler Halcyon a new Alfa Romeo because this American concept car is based on the Stellantis STLA Large platform as its technical basis.
Eight new models
This includes eight models by 2026, including the successor to the Giulia and also an electric Chrysler, which is planned for 2025.
This car can’t come soon enough because Chrysler is dying. The brand only sells the eight-year-old Pacifica and a whopping thirteen-year-old 300C.
Chrysler Halcyon concept
You shouldn’t expect a production version of this Halcyon, it’s too futuristic for that. Chrysler released few details about the car. However, we already know a lot about the STLA Large platform.
It could house enough batteries for a range of up to 800 kilometers and could even be used for extreme sports cars that can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2.0 seconds.
Chrysler reports that the Halcyon’s 800V batteries support wireless charging. So the brand claims that it would have infinite range on a special induction road surface. Yes, we would like one of those too.
Design example
The Halcyon is therefore not very realistic. It is more of a design example. A declaration of intent from the Chrysler brand, which wants to be fully electric by 2028. So there is still a lot to do.
Is the Halcyon recognizable as a Chrysler? Not that we can see it. Like so many electric cars, its appearance seems to be determined primarily by the wind tunnel. Although Chrysler doesn’t have a strong visual identity anyway.
Where is the airflow?
By the way, we wonder what happened to the Chrysler Airflow. This 2022 concept car appeared to be a realistic precursor to the new Chrysler, but was apparently filmed in the middle of last year.
