Do you drive a Porsche or Jaguar? There’s a good chance you’re having a midlife crisis

One of the most stereotypical signs of going through a midlife crisis is buying a sports car around the age of 40 to 60. Especially if it is also a convertible. Men in a Porsche are usually assumed to be hiding their true age.

A British study surveyed thousands of drivers about car models bought by people who want to appear younger than they are. According to the Daily Mail, a third of respondents (32%) know someone over 50 who has bought a sports car. An age when many children have already left home and men like to spend their money on themselves.

Midlife crisis models

At the top is the Porsche 911 (39%), a model that is already sixty years old. “This model screams midlife,” said those surveyed. The cheaper Porsche Boxter (34%) takes second place on the list, with third place going to the Aston Martin Vantage (26%).

This is followed by Jaguar F-Type (23%), Audi TT (22%), Ford Mustang (21%), BMW Z4 (20%), Mercedes Benz SL (17%), Audi R8 (16%). Alfa Romeo Spider (14%). The Range Rover Evogue (10%), the Subaru BRZ (10%), the Land Rover Defender (9%), the VW Golf GTI (8%) and the Toyota Supra (8%) are also in the top 20.

Condition

After long scientific discussions, it was proven in 2008 that the midlife crisis is actually an existing illness. Research has shown that satisfaction with one’s life follows a U-shape: people are happiest both when they are young and when they are old. The nadir occurs around age 46. This pattern has been measured in 72 different countries and is the same for men and women.
