Hardly anyone applies for a subsidy for a new electric car anymore
The purchase subsidy for electric vehicles goes to high earners, complains Natuur & Milieu. Well, that’s disappointing because there are only a few people using SEPP anymore.
The electric car subsidy for private individuals (SEPP) applies to new electric cars with a tax value of up to 45,000 euros and amounts to 2,950 euros (as of 2023).
Budget new electric car
This year there is 58 million euros in the pot, but now after one month only 2.8 million of it has been used, which corresponds to 5 percent of the total. So the enthusiasm is not that great.
Things have gone faster in recent years
By 2022, around 40 percent of the pot will already be empty, as Jasper Verweij from Automotive MediaVentions calculates. Last year this share was around 18 percent. And then there was another 9 million euros more budget.
Subsidy for used electric vehicles
By the way, things are better with the promotion of used electric cars. Of the 29.4 million euros in the pot (3 million euros less than in 2023), 16 percent have now been allocated. This is comparable to last year.
