KNMI: Slip conditions across the country except in the West
With the exception of the West, slippery traffic may occur throughout the country. The KNMI has issued an orange code for the eastern and southeastern part of the country (Overijssel, Gelderland, North Brabant and Limburg) due to slippery conditions due to ice. Drizzle can fall there and freeze on the road surface, making it slippery.
The yellow code applies in Utrecht, Flevoland and the three northern provinces. There, the slipperiness is caused by the freezing of wet sections of the road.
Code orange
In the early afternoon there was extensive scattering on the highways in the east of the country and in Limburg. There will also be plenty of gritters on Thursday evening, especially on the roads in areas where Code Orange applies, says a spokesman for Rijkswaterstaat. He urges drivers to drive very carefully, especially when cornering, and to reduce their speed.
It can be slippery all evening and night. The KNMI expects the slippery conditions to disappear on Friday morning.
