This is the actual range of the Volkswagen ID.Buzz

This is the actual range of the Volkswagen ID.Buzz

Electric cars usually consume more than the manufacturers state. The result is less good range than you might expect. This time we are testing the range of the Volkswagen ID.Buzz.

The difference between the stated WLTP range and the actual range is large for some vehicles. For this reason, Autovisie tests the actual average range in practice with the air conditioning and radio on. This gives you a better idea of how far you can actually get with an electric vehicle.

Volkswagen ID.Buzz

Autovisie drives the Volkswagen ID.Buzz in the Pro version. This version has a 204 hp electric motor on the rear wheels and a battery with a capacity of 77 kWh. According to the manufacturer, you can travel 415 kilometers on a full charge.

The actual range

We drove the Volkswagen ID.Buzz in ideal weather conditions, but with sporty and wide Hankook tires.

Despite their likely influence on consumption, we achieved a decent 20 kWh per 100 kilometers on the standard lap, which corresponds to a range of 385 kilometers. For such a big car, fuel consumption at higher speeds wasn’t too bad. At a constant speed of 130 km/h, 250 kilometers were possible.

Fast charging with the Volkswagen ID.Buzz

We were unable to achieve the promised fast charging of 170 kW. The Volkswagen ID.Buzz stuck at 142 kW, but then only gradually decreased, making charging from 10 to 80 percent in half an hour a breeze.

Volkswagen ID.Buzz
Consumption (WLTP) 21.2 kWh/100 km
Measured consumption 20.0 kWh/100 km
Range (WLTP/measured) 415km / 385km
Max. measured charging speed 142kW
Charging time 10-80% (measured) 28 mins
Measured loading time 10-80% 30 minutes

The consumption round

Autovisie independently tests consumption in the Netherlands as part of the Autovisie double test. Please note that consumption may vary as it depends on your driving style, but also on weather conditions and many other factors.
